The Game Fair is delighted to announce its partnership with LAPADA for this year’s Arts and Antiques Fair. In its tenth year, the annual LAPADA Art & Antiques Fair in Berkeley Square, Mayfair, London is this Autumn’s must-visit event for sourcing and buying fine art and antiques.
For the first time, The Game Fair will be hosting a reception at the fair on Tuesday 17th September at 5.30pm. The reception will be hosted with an exclusive talk from renowned auctioneer, Gavin Gardiner, who will be doing a talk on ‘Vintage Firearms: Collecting and the Law’. A brief talk about collecting antique, vintage and modern guns, in the context of today’s world and the potential pitfalls a collector may face.
Gavin Gardiner has over 35 years experience in this field and has been involved with many memorable auctions over the years, including Sotheby’s sales in New York and Geneva as well as the renowned Gleneagles auction that has remained the market leader in this sector for over fifty years. Leaving Sotheby’s at the beginning of 2006 to establish his own company, Gavin Gardiner Limited, he now takes responsibility for the London and Gleneagles sales, and remains as a consultant to Sotheby’s worldwide.
Guests can also expect a private tour of the LAPADA show as well as a welcome glass of Gusbourne, one of the official sponsors.
James Gower, Managing Director at The Game Fair explained, “A vast number of visitors to The Game Fair are from or based in London and have been coming to the event for decades, sourcing sporting art and sculpture. LAPDA has an international reputation amongst purveyors of fine art in the same way that The Game Fair is the pinnacle event for lovers of the countryside. The partnership with The Game Fair and LAPADA has enormous potential and we look forward to welcoming invited guests to an exclusive talk with renowned auctioneer, Gavin Gardiner, at the event in a few weeks’ time.”
Sophie Wood, Organiser of LAPADA Arts and Antiques Fair said, “We are delighted to partner with The Game Fair this year, that perfectly complements the LAPADA Art & Antiques Fair as we celebrate our 10th anniversary in Berkeley Square. Both share a breadth of specialisms, a wealth of heritage brands at the core of their offering, many of which were founded in and around Mayfair – just a stone’s throw away from the fair. Throughout the LAPADA association’s 45 years of trading the qualities that have made it grow and endure are: expertise, quality, craftsmanship, provenance, attention to detail and excellent client service helping people to buy art and antiques with confidence which mirrors The Game Fair in many ways.”
