Princess Paws at Pickett

The weekend is here and about time too after the demanding week I’ve had in the office! I love the weekend as I get Mummy all to myself on long lazy lie-ins and walks are definitely longer and more relaxed. Of late there seems to be a new craze – jogging. Sometimes I get to go and sometimes I don’t and I’m not really sure quite what I think about it. Mummy runs in Queen’s Park and Green Park. She’s training for the Royal Parks Half Marathon in aid of The Eve Appeal which I fully approve of – raising awareness for gynecological cancers. However, in Queen’s Park, I am not allowed off the lead so it is just a case of exercise for both of us, rather than my favourite activity of squirrel chasing or exploring exciting new smells. However, a bit of exercise is always good and I am more than willing to support Mummy in her training.

It’s been quite a week. I have been serenaded on the tube by a rather dishy man studying poetry and I saw some of my favourite journalists and friends at a drinks party at Pickett last Wednesday. I love Trevor – his was the first carpet I ever peed on when I was a puppy in his bijou flat in Chelsea and I love lazy weekends at his beautiful Suffolk cottage. Trevor has just moved his flagship store from the Burlington Arcade to 10-12 Burlington Gardens and lots of beautiful new antiques are arriving for me to sit on. Matthew Steeples of The Steeple Times, the UK’s answer to The Huffington Post, was among the guests and I have a special soft spot for him as he calls me the ‘urban gundog’ and even mentioned me in his sweet blog about Mummy. http://thesteepletimes.com/wildcards/claire-zambuni/

Also, with a little more sunshine it means more squirrels to chase in Green park. I’m yet to catch one yet this year, but will be honing my skills….
